- Paper width: box width + twice the box height + approximately 2 inches for an overlapping seam.
- Paper length: box length + twice the box height + approximately 2 inches for end folds.
This is a planning estimate, not a guarantee: extra-deep boxes, irregular packages, thick material and elaborate folds need more. When in doubt, measure a spare sheet or allow extra length rather than cutting too close.
Example: For a box measuring 12 inches long, 8 inches wide and 3 inches high, the estimate is 16 inches across and 20 inches along. The 29 × 20-inch option may be enough with precise cutting, but moving up to 29 × 72 inches provides more room for error and additional gifts.
