Guyana’s 2022 census preliminary report lists Bartica among the country’s urban townships. It recorded a preliminary township population of 11,486. The same census notes that Bartica had not yet attained township status at the time of the 2012 census.

That places Bartica alongside Georgetown, Linden, New Amsterdam, Rose Hall, Corriverton, Anna Regina, Mabaruma, Mahdia and Lethem in Guyana’s present-day urban township system.
